Chiropractic adjustments are most commonly applied to the spine, but they can be done for any joint that is experiencing ongoing pain due to misalignment. Joint misalignment can occur due to trauma or injury, or simply due to daily stressors; for example, jobs in which you are required to sit all day in front of a computer can cause your spine to slowly shift out of alignment, causing you severe, ongoing pain. The misalignment can also lead to pinched nerves, reduced range of motion, inflammation, and other symptoms. A chiropractic adjustment applies gentle pressure to the misaligned joint, guiding it carefully back into alignment. As the misalignment is corrected, you will experience a decrease in pain, inflammation, and muscle tension, as well as an increase in the range of motion in the affected joint.
